A town in Australia, Myocum was Pascal Moser’s inspiration to open his Australian-themed café in Dubai, Al Wasl.
Named after his hometown, he co-founded the venue with his friend, Khalid bin Hadher who he also met back home in Australia. Moser wanted something in Dubai that reminded him of his home, and so, "Myocum" was born.
“I wanted a concept that kept me in touch with my home while living in Dubai. Myocum is a family concept. My sister’s artwork is on display, my mother made the ceramic lights (and she has a ceramic studio in Dubai called OKA). My grandma made some of the cushions, my grandpa made some of the stools and my brother helped with photography in the beginning along with a communicable collaboration on the interior with my mother and fiancé,” explained Moser.
The menu offers a variety of nutritious dishes at reasonable prices. They also have vegan choices. The "Lighthouse breaky," made up of organic pouched eggs with grilled halloumi, is served for breakfast. The “farmers market breaky”, is another breakfast option and consists of eggs, toast, and a variety of vegetables. You will eat a delicious meal without feeling heavy at Myocum. Coffee with a variety of milk options, such as almond, oat, or soy milk, is also available.
Their Spanish latte has the ideal coffee consistency, but the flat white is a better choice if you prefer a stronger, less sweet coffee.
More than a corner café, Myocum is an active part of the community, namely the rich car culture in the UAE. Last weekend on Friday, March the 26th, Myocum held their classic car meetup, the fourth one of its kind. This was done with the support of vintage lifestyle brand, Vintage Maad and motoring community brand, Flat 12.
From 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., guests were welcomed to breakfast with a free cup of coffee and a chance to catch a glimpse of some of the finest classics from throughout the UAE. The owners of the cars were given the chance to display their vehicles, take great shots and network with other motoring enthusiasts, all over a cup of coffee and breakfast of course.
Khalid Al Qassimi brought his 1979 Mini to the event to share his passion and beautiful ride with others.
“I own the 1979 Mini, which I purchased in 2014 as the third owner and fully restored it from the bottom up. What I like most about it is the sensation; you have to ride it to feel it. I've always been a fan of classic cars, especially minis and Fiats,” says Khalid.
Abood Mubarak, another classic car owner, said, "I always like to attend classic car events, and I own a 1972 Stingray, which I love because it was the last year they did the classic road bumper, and it's a convertible, so it's great for Dubai's winter weather," explains Abood. “Since I was a kid, I've been fascinated by classic cars.”
Porshce classic club member, Andrew, enjoys the networking at these meetups.
“I own a 1989 Porsche, and I enjoy attending events like these to meet other vintage car owners and learn more about the different cars they own. It's a way for us Porsche club members to catch up.”
Myocum holds events that bring like-minded people together through their interests, like the classic car event, since it was created with love and inspiration from Australia. It's "fresh, safe, homey, and soulful," as Moser describes.
Myocum is located in Dar Was Mall in Al Safa, Dubai. Coffee is served from 7am, and food from 8am-9pm.
