Custom Show Emirates: A curation of the finest modified cars, bikes and trucks

If motorsport is art, and cars are our canvases, then this year’s Custom Show Emirates showcased the artform on a strong note with their biggest custom cars and bike show in the Middle East on April 8th in World Trade Center Dubai. The show was three days long and focused mostly on the most modified, custom made cars and motorcycles alongside activities such as handcrafted leather work, live welding of racing parts and the awards ceremony.

General manager, Basem Bader, highlights that the Custom Show Emirates 2021 has become more diverse throughout the years since the inaugural show in 2015.

“Custom Show Emirates provides different activities such as Remote-Control Competitions, Dyno Zone, Engines Battle, Street Performance Zone, Car Entertainment, and Kids Garage offering fun and educational activities for smaller petrol heads. Also, there are xperts working on leather works, stainless steel welding, and air brushing,” outlines Bader.

The aim of the Custom Show is to highlight the history of modified cars, bikes, and trucks. It’s to remind customers that this industry is all about showcasing the beauty and art of automobiles. “We target Car enthusiasts who are willing to bolster this field,” Bader adds.

The Custom Show had a lot of new plans this year. For starters, it was held at the World Trade Center in Dubai for the first time, while it is normally held in Abu Dhabi’s ADNEC. The second strategy is to inspire people of all ages and cultures to participate in competitions with prizes from Custom Show Emirates worth up to 550,000 Dhs.

“Participants are either exhibitors, car or bike competitors. By participating, they can expand their field of business through our event as a platform to showcase their products, services. They have an opportunity to connect with suppliers and retailers of tuning and after-market products while placing them in direct contact with buyers and end-consumers.”

Car modification companies show up at the event and they reveal, announce and showcase their product or range of services that are being offered. This allows them to enhance their reach, engagement and manage inventory more efficiently, especially when they’d like to make room for new products and innovation in the industry.

The show also acts as a point of sale for participants or retailers as visitors are able to purchase items directly from them or simply get inspired for their own project builds.

Sport classic cars are the most popular category at the show because “they bring the history to the present. They gather the vintage, custom or rare portraits in the form of cars. The visitors’ attention is automatically drawn to their range of models and restorations,” Bader explains.

Raymond Anderson, the owner of a red 1972 Dodge Charger named ‘The Kraken’ got first place amongst the classic car builds for its immaculate condition, high quality racing modifications and most importantly, safety.

“I was shocked to get first place. I was buying some souvenirs and about to head out until I heard my name being called and so I ran to the podium!” Anderson explains.

The Custom Show Emirates is a truly inclusive event as it invites different categories of vehicles and motorsport under one roof, but also in bringing together people that seek fulfillment from the hobby in different ways.

For Raymond, it’s more about the project and the journey rather than the car.

“I’m not a car guy,” he says. “I’m doing this for the sake of the project and building something different.”
